The Wonderful World Of Chocolate Retail Store

Why we design this: draw inspiration from the fairy tale world

When conceiving a chocolate retail store full of childlike fun, we focused on classic fairy tale elements, especially the fantasy atmosphere created by "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". We hope to create a shopping scene for customers, especially children and young consumers, that is like stepping into a fairy tale secret, so that the process of buying chocolate becomes an adventure full of surprises and joy.

We imagine that the chocolate store is a miniature magic world, where chocolate is no longer just a commodity, but a medium connecting reality and fairy tales. By integrating natural fantasy elements (such as giant mushrooms and candy trees) with chocolate retail functions, the monotonous layout of traditional stores is broken, and customers' curiosity and desire for exploration are stimulated, allowing them to regain the innocence of childhood and their yearning for beautiful things in shopping.

Build a "Chocolate Fantasy Forest"

(I) Theme core

With the "Chocolate Fantasy Forest" as the core concept, the store space is shaped into a magical forest with wonderful plants and the aroma of chocolate. Every landscape and every piece of furniture in the forest echoes the sweetness of chocolate and the fantasy of fairy tales, creating an immersive consumer experience, making customers seem to be transformed into fairy tale protagonists, exploring the treasure of delicious chocolate in the forest.

(II) Spatial hierarchy

  • Entrance guide area: As the "gateway" to the fantasy forest, it attracts customers to step in through soft lighting and uniquely shaped arches (which can be designed to look like melting chocolate). Set up a small display stand, place special chocolate samples, and match them with cute forest-themed decorations (such as mushroom-shaped signboards) to initially arouse childlike interest and expectations.
  • Central interactive area: It is the core of the entire "forest". It is decorated with iconic installations such as giant mushrooms and candy trees, which become the focus for customers to take photos, check in, stay and interact. The surrounding area is surrounded by chocolate display and sales areas, allowing customers to naturally integrate into shopping behavior while enjoying the fantasy landscape.
  • Surrounding display area: Multi-layer display racks are set up along the wall to display various chocolate products in an orderly manner, and forest element decorations are integrated (such as vine-shaped shelf frames), which not only ensures the richness of product display, but also continues the overall fantasy atmosphere.
  • Rest experience area: Arrange unique seats (such as mushroom stools, candy-shaped sofas), and match them with small chocolate tasting tables, so that customers can stop and taste delicious food, and feel the comfort of resting in the fairy tale forest.

Matching of internal display furniture: Make fairy tale elements "live"

(I) Core device - giant mushroom

  • Styling design: Refer to the image of large and colorful mushrooms in fairy tales and make them into multifunctional display furniture. The mushroom umbrella surface is made of smooth purple paint material to simulate the glossiness of chocolate coating, and the lower stem part is presented with wood texture to add natural texture. Hidden light strips can be set under the umbrella surface to create soft diffuse light.
  • Functional integration: Mushrooms are not only the visual focus, but also have display and interactive functions. The inside of the stem can be designed as a small storage space to store popular chocolate samples; the circular area under the umbrella surface can be used to place exquisite chocolate gift boxes for customers to take and view. At the same time, when customers visit and select products around mushrooms, it is like exploring around magical plants in a fairy tale forest.

(II) Candy Tree and Display Stand

  • Candy Tree: With macaron colors such as pink and blue as the main colors, it creates a tree shape full of "candy flowers". The "flowers" on the branches are actually creative display containers for chocolates, and chocolates of different shapes and flavors are cleverly embedded, such as round chocolates as the stamens of flowers and bar chocolates as petals. The trunk can be made of fiberglass to make imitation bark textures, and matched with the green simulated lawn base at the bottom to enhance the forest atmosphere.
  • Mushroom-shaped display stand: Echoing the giant mushroom, it adopts a miniaturized and serialized design. The purple mushroom table is used to display bulk chocolates and special tasting products, and the mushroom legs below can be used as storage space to store supporting packaging materials, brochures, etc. Multiple mushroom display stands are scattered in the central interactive area and the surrounding display area, which not only enriches the spatial level, but also facilitates customers to select products from different angles.

(III) Display racks and cash registers

Forest vine display racks: multi-layer display racks are set up along the walls of the store. The frames are made of metal and designed into a winding vine shape, and the surface is sprayed with a dark purple imitation plant branch coating. Each layer of partitions is made of wood, matched with warm yellow lights to create a warm display atmosphere. Chocolates of different categories and packages are placed in an orderly manner on the display racks, from exquisite gift boxes to bulk snacks, to meet diverse needs. At the same time, the vine shape makes the display racks seem to grow naturally from the "forest soil".

"Wonka" theme cash register: borrow the style of the chocolate factory in fairy tales to create a unique cash register. The countertop is designed in an irregular shape of flowing chocolate, with a melting effect on the edge and a light brown imitation chocolate coating. The front of the cash register is inlaid with a luminous "Wonka" logo, echoing the fairy tale IP and enhancing the brand memory point. Storage drawers and cabinets are set up below to store cash register equipment, bills and commonly used small commodities, combining functionality and beauty.

Decoration and lighting application: rendering an immersive fairytale atmosphere

(I) Decoration details - let the forest "grow" in the store

  1. Wall and floor decoration: The wall is mainly dark purple, simulating the mysterious atmosphere of the forest at night, and is partially embellished with green vine wall stickers and hand-painted forest animals (such as squirrels and rabbits), as if these small creatures are shuttling through the forest. The ground is made of light pink and white epoxy flooring, which simulates the winding streams and paths in the forest through curved lines to guide customers to flow naturally in the space. At the same time, light strips can be embedded in the lines to create a magical effect of "luminous streams".
  2. Theme element embellishment: Decorations related to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" are arranged in the corners of the store, on the top of the display shelves, etc., such as "Golden Ticket" retro posters and cartoon dolls, to evoke customers' memories and resonance of fairy tales. You can also hang some colorful balloon-shaped decorations to simulate the magical floating spheres in fairy tales, add a lively feeling to the space, and the color of the balloons echoes the color of the chocolate packaging and the flowers of the candy tree, strengthening the overall visual coordination.

(II) Lighting design - creating the circadian rhythm of the magic forest

  1. Basic lighting: Use hidden linear light strips, arranged along the edge of the ceiling, the top of the display shelf, and the curved lines on the ground, emitting soft warm yellow light, like the sunlight shining through the gaps between the leaves in the forest, providing uniform and non-glaring basic lighting, ensuring the brightness of the space without destroying the fantasy atmosphere.
  2. Key lighting: Set up directional spotlights for core areas such as giant mushrooms, candy trees, and chocolate display areas. For example, when illuminating the candy tree, adjust the light angle to highlight the color and luster of the "candy flowers" to make the chocolate the visual focus; when illuminating the chocolate display area under the giant mushroom umbrella, use diffuse spotlights to highlight the texture of the product and attract customers' attention.
  3. Atmosphere lighting: Arrange small floor lamps and atmosphere lamps in the rest experience area and the bottom of the mushroom stool. The floor lamps in the rest area can emit soft green light, simulating the night light of the forest grass; the ring light strips are set at the bottom of the mushroom stools, making the seats seem to float in the forest, enhancing the immersive experience. In addition, the brightness and color combination of the lights can be adjusted according to different time periods (such as creating a bright and lively atmosphere during the day and turning on the warm yellow mode in the evening), making the store like a magic forest, presenting different charms over time.
