In the minds of many people, a laundry room is merely a functional space filled with washing machines and dryers, damp, noisy, and even with a lingering smell of disinfectant. But when we set out to design this large laundry located in the city's core area, we wanted to break this stereotype - it is not only a place for handling clothes, but also a complex space integrating professional services, product experiences and life aesthetics. From spatial planning to detailed decoration, every design is answering one question: How can the act of laundry be made more efficient, more comfortable, and even more ritualistic?

When you push open the door of this laundry room, the first thing you feel is not a sense of confinement and oppression, but a sense of openness and transparency. This is attributed to our bold utilization of the spatial structure - with a ceiling height of nearly 8 meters, the equipment area and display area, which might have previously appeared crowded, now have room to breathe. The exposed black steel structure frame and silver ventilation ducts crisscross along the ceiling without being deliberately concealed. Instead, they serve as the visual framework of the space, conveying a tough and professional industrial atmosphere.
The choice of floor material is a key point that we have repeatedly considered. In the core equipment area and product display area, we chose a dark grey epoxy concrete floor. This material is wear-resistant, easy to clean, and can withstand the wear and tear of a large number of equipment and people. At the same time, the dark base can also better highlight the displayed products and equipment. At the front desk, the laundry area and the rest area at the entrance, we have laid light wood-colored imitation wood flooring. The warm wood grain tone instantly neutralizes the coldness and hardness of the industrial style, allowing customers to feel the transition from "public service" to "private experience" from the moment they step into the space.

As you walk deeper into the space, you will see light wood-colored open shelves and display stands neatly arranged. This is the core of the laundry room - the equipment display area. We did not hide the washing machine, dryer and other equipment in the background, but displayed them as the main characters of the space in prominent positions. The black background wall contrasts sharply with the light wood-colored exhibition stand, making the lines and texture of each piece of equipment stand out even more.
In terms of equipment display, we adopted a "layered display" approach: the bottom shelves are used to display auxiliary products such as small ironing equipment and clothing care machines, the middle exhibition stands focus on showcasing main washing machines and dryers, and the embedded shelves on the background wall are used to display TV screens, continuously playing the working principles and usage scenarios of the equipment. This layout not only enables customers to directly observe the appearance of the equipment, but also allows them to understand the performance of the equipment through videos, thereby establishing trust in the professionalism of the laundry room.
Walking along the main passage, custom-made shelves in light green are lined up in a row along the wall. This is the area for the laundry room's supporting products. We have abandoned the traditional supermarket's dense stacking display method and adopted a "less but better" display logic: only 3 to 5 products are displayed on each shelf, ranging from high-end laundry detergent and natural fabric softener to eco-friendly storage baskets and solid wood clothes hangers. Each product seems like a carefully selected daily necessity.
The design of the central island cabinet is the highlight of this area. On the countertop of the light wood-colored central island, towels and bed sheets are neatly stacked in wicker baskets. White ceramic jars are filled with aroma packs, and a few red flower arrangements are dotted among them, making the entire area brim with a sense of life. The warm light from the wall lamp spills down from above the shelf, shining on the product packaging and adding a touch of refinement to the bottle of laundry detergent. We hope that through this display method, customers can realize that laundry is not only a household chore, but also a pursuit of the quality of life.

On the other side of the space, we have specially set up a lighting system experience area. The design inspiration here comes from the lighting exhibition hall - on the black grid ceiling, various styles of chandeliers are hung, ranging from simple spherical floor lamps to retro metal wall lamps. Each type of lamp corresponds to the lighting needs of different areas in the laundry room.
The reason why we attach so much importance to lighting design is that the lighting in the laundry room is not only to illuminate the space, but also to meet the professional needs of handling clothes. For instance, in the clothing sorting area, we need bright and uniform cold light to facilitate staff in identifying the material and stains of the clothes. In the rest area, we need soft warm light to make customers feel relaxed while waiting to pick up their clothes. By presenting various lighting solutions, we not only demonstrated the professional configuration of the laundry room to customers, but also conveyed the concept that "details determine quality".
The front desk at the entrance is the "face" of the laundry room. We have adopted a different design language here from other areas. The light wood-colored floor extends to the front desk area. On the black front desk, simple signboards are placed. The background wall is in a striking blue color, with the brand logos of "PIRAMIDA" and "maib" printed on it, enhancing the professional image.
On one side of the front desk, lockers are set up for storing customers' clothes, while on the other side, there is a rest area. The orange sofas and green plant decorations make this place a comfortable waiting space. We also installed geometrically shaped LED light strips above the front desk, which not only meet the lighting requirements but also serve as decorative elements, making the entire front desk area appear modern and vibrant.

Color matching: The dark grey walls and floors set the tone for the industrial style, while the light emerald green shelves and central island cabinets bring a fresh visual impact. The natural wood-colored display stands and floors convey the warmth of nature. The combination of these three colors not only avoids the monotony of the space but also does not appear overly gaudy, striking a perfect balance between professionalism and softness.
Material mix and match: concrete, steel, wood, rattan weaving, glass. The collision of different materials is a major feature of this space. The exposed steel structure and pipes represent the toughness of industry, while the rattan baskets and wooden shelves convey a natural texture. The transparency of the glass lamps makes the entire space appear even more light and airy. This mix and match of materials not only elevates the layers of the space but also fills every corner with details.
Lighting design: Besides functional lighting, we also treat lighting as a decorative element. Geometrically shaped LED light strips interweave unique patterns on the ceiling, and various styles of lamps become the visual focus of the space. When night falls and the lights come on, the entire space takes on an atmosphere completely different from that of the daytime, transforming from a professional service area into a living space full of design sense
